Julie Spangler is a breast survivor who volunteers with The Cancer Society driving patients to their life-saving treatments for free. She thinks of it as sort of paying a kind of cosmic debt for being one of the lucky ones that survives. She says, “I’m still alive.  If you can’t get to treatment, I’m going to be there for you.” Rachel was one of the patients who benefitted by Julie’s rides.

The program has provided nearly 10 million rides to treatment since 2005. Lack of transportation is the number one barrier to people accessing timely high quality care.
